Sparkling Clean, Friendly and Peaceful Oasis near centre of Kathmandu

Le Rhododendron is truly special – a peaceful oasis a 5 minute walk from the noise and bustle of Thamel. Hari continues to genuinely care for his guests. He made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to ensure we had an extremely comfortable stay. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast first class and his hospitality second to none. Hari somehow manages to combine making you feel like family, yet also like honoured guests – a wonderful combination. Each day started with a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast on the sunny rooftop terrace ( including the best coffee I had in Nepal). The shower is hot, with good pressure, the bedding, linen etc, spotless and the wi-fi and electricity reliable. Hari is ready to assist with any logistical challenge and often anticipated our needs. A stay at Le Rhododendron will be one of the highlights of your trip to Nepal and worth staying in Kathmandu for an extra few days.

I was fortunate to stay here for 1 and a half years during the pandemic. I got to know the owner,Hari, and his family well during this time. We became like family. Hari genuinely cares for his guests and is happy to arrange whatever for their stay. The place is conveniently located next to Thamel and us safe, clean, and quiet. Great to shop at the local markets and get to know the people. It is a place to feel closer to how people live in Kathmandu without it being so touristic. Shop and visit with the locals, not as a tourist. Hari makes special effort that his place is kept up, recently repainting the whole building. A garden in the backyard to see what is growing. Balconies facing front and back with a great view of the surrounding hills. On a clear day on the rooftop you can see the Himalayas! Definitely recommend! Pic is from back balcony.

I have visit Nepal two times. Both of the time I had stayed in this place. The family who owns this are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and dinner is included. This year I also was trekking in Himalaya, and I had a lots of laundry with me. They took care of my laundry for a small money. My best recommendation.

The room with huge terrace was clean and big enough for one person. The family of the "homestay" was very friendly and helpful for anything I asked. They organised my visit to Pokhara for no additional cost and Mr Hari was driving me around and showing old and new places as I wanted. Sometimes I had tasty lunch and dinner with the family and every day a cup of tea or two. I can only recommend to stay at Le Rhododendron.

This house is amazing for the traveler. They provide all the information to guest and city map too. They pick up from airport and drive in to different place. The room are need and clean and there are natural light in the room. Room has terrace with mountain view. Service are excellent and located in a quiet place 5 minute from Thamel.
